Magazine Article analysis
In this music magazine article we see many different conventions that have been used so that it appeals to the target audience.
One convention that has been used is that the artist of the album and the album itself has clearly been stated. This has been put in black text which results it standing out from the white background that it has been presented on. It also states the date of release in small below some extra added text that has been inserted. This again has been put in black to match the other text and again to stand out from the background.
The main eye catching point in the article is in fact the image that has been placed in the centre of the background. This simple but effective design draws the consumers eye into the article. The different images that have been placed in the one image also stand out as these are the only parts of the article that are in colour. The images that are included are of Michael Jackson himself performing at different events. The images include vast colours that contrast highly against the neutral grey background. With the pictures being of past performances the consumer will also remember past events they may have seen or heard. This in itself is an advertising point as in the past he has been a musical icon and inspiration.
Overall this article is effective because of the conventions it has used. As it is so simple and easily read it gets the message across strongly and really stands out from the page. The colours that have been used have also resulted in the article standing out from the page. Now that I am able to recognise and see these conventions I am now going to use some of these conventions to create my own music magazine article.
